Music of the Baroque

Today, Sat­ur­day April 9th, we explore the music of the Baroque era. We’ll be includ­ing the work of a wide range of com­posers, and today’s pro­gramme includes a wide selec­tion of com­po­si­tions by J S Bach.

Then at 12 noon and 4pm Pacif­ic / 8pm or mid­night UK time, there’s anoth­er chance to hear the lat­est episode of “Where Have You Been?”, our show on places to vis­it and things to do around the Sec­ond Life Grid, broad­cast every Wednes­day and Sat­ur­day. In the cur­rent episode, we vis­it the Ribong Gallery Art­space, where not­ed artist Haveit Neox has a new exhi­bi­tion, along with oth­er artists.

And every four hours from 4am Pacific/noon in the UK, tune in for “The Engines of Our Inge­nu­ity”, from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Hous­ton, about the machines that make our civ­i­liza­tion run and the peo­ple whose inge­nu­ity cre­at­ed them.

Each night at the stroke of mid­night, Jack sits in the soft, com­fort­able chair which comes alive, lur­ing him onto its vel­vety realm. Every­day real­i­ty fades away, and Jack finds him­self in a strange, oth­er-world of mag­ic, pirates, and sor­cery where huge puff­balls cling to ceil­ings and walls, mast­ed sail­ing ships with wings fly the skies and islands float in the air…

Tarot @ Teatime — Episode 29: 1, 2 and 3‑card readings

Wil­low is tak­ing a break from the show, so Hon­ey is joined by Elrik Mer­lin as co-pre­sen­ter.

In this episode, they dis­cuss the use of 1, 2 and 3‑card read­ings — and why and when you’d choose one of these over the larg­er spreads. These are rel­a­tive­ly sim­ple spreads — but you don’t always need a grand tableau or even a 9‑card spread every time you read. And a 3‑card spread can pack a lot of infor­ma­tion into just those three cards.

They also touch on Tarot Year and Birth cards.

Hits In Hi-Fi

Today — Wednes­day 30th March — we’ll take a nos­tal­gic jour­ney back to the 1950s and 1960s and beyond, when music was on vinyl (don’t touch the play­ing sur­face!) and home audio was new and excit­ing­ly futur­is­tic… with Hits In Hi-Fi.

In the ear­ly days of stereo, a sig­nif­i­cant num­ber of albums were released that were designed espe­cial­ly to show off the won­ders of this new way of pre­sent­ing musi­cal enter­tain­ment. Sounds “ping-ponged” across the stereo sound­stage; instru­ments appeared hard on one side and then hard on the oth­er… and there were a lot of space ref­er­ences, bloops and bleeps start­ing and end­ing the pieces — and once the Moog Syn­the­sis­er became avail­able, that was includ­ed in the mix too.Con­tin­ue read­ing→
